The FED-IX project aims to create an open and distributed interconnection ecosystem, founded on principles of neutrality and shared governance.

Through close collaboration between Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), we seek to test and refine a model of resilient and high-performance Federation, which can serve as a reference platform for future expansion, involving other players in the digital ecosystem.

FED-IX was born from the collaboration between two of Italy’s leading Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), non-profit organizations dedicated to enhancing Internet connectivity.
By facilitating traffic exchange between operators and digital services, these IXPs promote a more open and efficient network.

NamEX

NAMEX (NAutilus MEditerranean eXchange Point) is the most important Internet Exchange Point in central and southern Italy.
Founded in 1995, it has been a non-profit and neutral consortium since 2001.

TOP-IX

TOP-IX (TOrino Piemonte - Internet eXchange) is a non-profit consortium established in 2002 with the aim of creating and managing a NAP (Neutral Access Point) for Internet traffic exchange in northwestern Italy.
